32 Teams compete in the Germany 2006 World Cup Finals.

Final World Cup squads had to be announced by May 15th, 2006. FIFA also required that all players have at least eight days' rest, between the end of their respective seasons and reporting for World Cup duty.

World Cup Preparation

The organisation committee of FIFA World Cup™ 2006 highlighted 110 different locations in Germany as suitable accommodation for the 32 participating teams. The prerequisites consisted of a minimum of 40 rooms, meeting halls, appropriate food and when possible recreational and wellness areas.

The deadline was March 2006 for the World Cup participants to decide where they would lodge during World Cup training.

In addition to the accommodation sites available to the teams, two hotels in each of the game locations are also reserved; where the teams can assemble before the match.

First Round in the 2006 World Cup Finals

48 First Round matches in eight groups of four teams each; from Friday, 9th June to Friday, 23rd June.

The first two teams in each group move on to the Second Round.

Second Round

The top 16 countries in the world continue on the road to Berlin in the knockout stage. Fans get two games a day from Saturday, 24th June to Tuesday, 27th June.

Quarter-finals

Quarter-final matches take place on Friday, 30th June and Saturday, 1st July in Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Gelsenkirchen.

Semi-finals

The first semi-final is in Dortmund:
Tuesday, 4th July.

The second semi-final is in Munich:
Wednesday, 5th July.

Both kick-offs are at 21:00, local time.

Third Place Match

Stuttgart hosts the game for 3rd place:
Saturday, 8th July; at 21:00 local time.
